    Bloomer Park
    Bloomer Park is a nice little park on Middle Straights Lake. It is located on Richardson Road, about one-quarter mile east of Haggerty Road. There are some nature trails, restrooms, basketball courts, picnic areas, and a children's playscape. The playground equipment is ADA compliant. There is also shore fishing. The link provides more information about the park or pavilion rental. The park is in highly ranked Walled Lake Schools but it is West Bloomfield Park and address.

    West Bloomfield Nature Trail
    West Bloomfield Nature Trail in West Bloomfield MI is seven miles long. The east trailhead is at Sylvan Manor Park at 2294 Woodrow Wilson in West Bloomfield. The west trailhead is at West Bloomfield Woods Nature Preserve, 4655 Arrowhead Road. It is accessible at many points along the way but some local businesses don't want you to park in their parking lots. It connects to the Clinton River Trail.   • The Orchard Lake Nature Sanctuary is just one of many community amenities in this area and is located on Pontiac Trail about one-half mile west of Orchard Lake Road. There are 1.5 miles of hiking trails here and views of both Upper Straights Lake and Orchard Lake. The preserve does have abundant poison ivy and mosquitoes. Bear in mind that you can get poison ivy even in the winter, so stay on the trails. If you do get exposed, wash as soon as possible. That being said, it is very beautiful here. Enjoy!

    Drake Sports Park
    Drake Sports Park is located at 6801 Drake Road in West Bloomfield. It has several ball fields, paved hiking and biking paths, a playscape, skateboard park, clubhouse with meeting rooms, pavilion, and tennis courts. It is just one of the many nice community amenities that West Bloomfield offers.

    West Bloomfield Trail
    The West Bloomfield Trail is a 64 acre linear park that is almost 7 miles long. It runs from Sylvan Manor Park in Sylvan Lake to Haggerty Road near Pontiac Trail Road, and it connects to other trails at both ends. Although past Haggerty Road, I believe that the continuing trail is just abandoned undeveloped C and O Railroad right-of-way, but it connects to the M 5 Metro Trial which connects to the world. The other end connects to the Clinton River Trail, which gets lost on sidewalks in Pontiac for a while before continuing on to the rest of the world. The West Bloomfield Trail also connects to the 160 acre West Bloomfield Woods Nature Preserve which I have written a separate insight about found on this page. It does not directly connect to the 50-acre Orchard Lake Nature Preserve, but it runs within a quarter of a mile of it.
  • West Bloomfield Woods Nature Preserve is located south of Pontiac Trail Road on Arrowhead Road. There is trailhead parking on Arrowhead Road, but it is also accessible from points east and west on West Bloomfield Trail. Bikes are not allowed in the preserve but are allowed on West Bloomfield Trail. The preserve is about 160 acres of wooded area with oak, hickory, black walnut, and wild dogwoods. There are deer, coyote, red fox, weasels, mink, and over 100 different bird species. All of this natural beauty right in the middle of West Bloomfield! West Bloomfield has many excellent parks and recreation facilities.
