Rochester, MI, is home to the "Thumbs Up Wine Trail" and is approximately 27 miles round trip and 12 wineries throughout, as well as a cider house and Meadery. If you're looking for a weekend staycation, there are numerous B&Bs along the way! I've never been on this wine tour, but I think I will see it soon! Click on the website link for more information about the trail.
  • Paint Creek Trail Rochester is an 8.9 mile trail, (10.4 miles if you start near the connection to the Clinton River Trail). But I like starting and ending in the Rochester Municipal Park. The trail starts in Rochester and ends in Lake Orion. It was the first non-motorized Rails to Trails in Michigan, and it is beautiful for walking or biking. The Historic Paint Creek Cider Mill is a nice stop halfway along the way for donuts or light lunches. When you are done, you can dine at Kruse and Muer on Main in Rochester, which is one of my favorites.

During the holiday season, people come from near and far to see the spectacular display of lights in downtown Rochester. Windows of local businesses are also decorated with different holiday themes. From trick or treating in downtown Rochester at Halloween to the Christmas parade, you won't find a more family oriented town!!
  • Rochester is one of the most highly sought after suburbs of Detroit. This is due to its wonderful downtown, schools, and parks. Whether you feel like having a fancy dinner at a ritzy hotel, wandering around downtown to shop, or going for a jog along beautiful trails, Rochester is a fantastic place to raise a family. With homes priced between $150,000 and $1 million, our town has something for everyone. It even boasts an OPC (Older Persons Commission) that provides seniors with a huge, beautiful building to play games, exercise, or just hang out. The best part is that you only need to be 50 to enjoy it compliments of living in Rochester!
